Mike and Karen Kitt

Mike and Karen Kitt

Classical music has always been a part of the lives of Mike and Karen Kitt.

In 2012, they decided to make Flagstaff their home after visiting for many years. Originally from

New York, Mike and Karen were attracted to the beauty of Flagstaff, the great weather, and the

"college town feel."

As devoted, active supporters of the arts and sciences, they didn't waste time joining in and

becoming a part of the community through philanthropy, board service, and volunteer efforts.

Their lifelong interest in classical music led them to support the NAU School of Music by serving

on the College of Arts and Letters Advisory Council. And, their love of music and commitment to

NAU inspired their generous contribution to the NAU School of Music, ensuring that the Flagstaff community can enjoy classical music in a first-class music venue. Their gift paved the way for an intimate, state-of-the-art recital hall that will inspire performers and audiences alike.

When the recital hall plans were approved, Mike and Karen expressed their appreciation:

"Having seen firsthand the excellence of NAU's teaching programs, as evidenced by the wonderful student performances we have attended, we wanted to provide NAU and the community a music facility that matches that level of excellence. The Kitt Recital Hall

will be an important resource for faculty, students, and everyone who appreciates the beauty of music."
